Why Confluence Backups
Why you need Confluence backups
Third-party backups are the gold standard for a reason:

Save engineering time
Backups are captured automatically every day and begin immediately after setup. No manual exports, custom code, or scripts required.
Setup takes minutes with Confluence’s standard authentication and account linking. No need for complicated configurations—just install and start your backups.

Fast, granular restores – no coding required
Recover your entire account or just a particular item through Rewind’s self-serve portal: simply select the date you’d like to restore to, and your data is recovered back to your Confluence instance in minutes.
Enjoy comprehensive coverage of your Confluence data, including pages, attachments, spaces, comments, and more. See detailed data coverage.

Meet compliance needs faster
Compliance with SOC 2, ISO 27001, and more is simple with automated backups, audit log, granular data recovery, and SOC 2 report.
Rewind is the leading third-party provider of secure, SOC 2-certified backup and recovery solutions.

FAQ
In order to set up Rewind Backups for Confluence, please visit our app page on Atlassian Marketplace and install the app by following the instructions. Rewind backups for Confluence is a cloud app and no installation is required on your local system.
No. Rewind backups for Confluence include unlimited cloud storage on Rewind Vault. You can access any backup version through the Rewind Vault by clicking versions and choosing a date from the calendar view.
Rewind keeps the backup snapshots for 365 days, which are easily accessible through your Rewind account for on-demand restores.
Rewind’s automatic backups are performed on a daily basis as default. When you need an additional backup, you can initiate it from your Rewind account using the “Backup Now” function.
To initiate a Restore, simply log in to your Rewind account (either from rewind.com or in the My Apps menu in Confluence) and navigate to the Advanced Restore tab. From there, choose the date/time you would like to Restore to, and click Restore.
When you initiate a restore, your instance will be restored exactly back to how it was on the date you selected. Your current data as of the date of the initiation will be replaced with the data saved in the backup snapshot taken the day you’ve selected to restore to. So, if on Wednesday, you restore your data back to Monday, any changes made on Tuesday will not be present. Please note that when restoring resources, Rewind will not delete any resources, but simply update them as part of the restore process.
If you have questions or need support, you may send an email to help@rewind.com, or simply type into the live chat window to speak directly to our Support Wizards, 7 days a week.
Isn’t my data already backed up?
14. Limitations of Liability
“14.1. Damages Waiver. Except for Excluded Claims or Special Claims, to the maximum extent permitted by Law, neither party will have any liability arising out of or related to this Agreement for any loss of use, lost data, lost profits, interruption of business or any indirect, special, incidental, reliance or consequential damages of any kind, even if informed of their possibility in advance.”
Maybe – but can you restore it?
SaaS providers, including Atlassian, operate using the Shared Responsibility Model.
Atlassian maintains a disaster recovery plan for their entire platform – Rewind protects the individual account-level data you rely on.
So if a hurricane struck, Atlassian could restore their entire platform.
But, if you suffered from a more common risk (e.g. cyberattacks, mistakes, or malicious deletion), your data could be gone forever.
Rewind backs up and restores account-level data. Item-level or full account restores ensure you can recover from any data disaster.
