How does the GDPR affect Shopify?
It’s important to note that the new GDPR regulation also affects the apps that you have installed in your Shopify or BigCommerce account, such as Rewind. Depending on the functionality of the app, some will store data from your account and clients on their own servers. You must contact the app developers to ask if they are required to be GDPR compliant and how they are handling the changes.
The changes within Rewind
To ensure that we are handling customer data in compliance with GDPR by May 25th, the following changes will take place for Rewind customers:
If you are based in Canada, all data for your backup, including the contact information for your EU customers, will remain in our USA data centre where it always has been. Once we’ve completed the necessary work to open the EU data center and transfer the relevant data, we will prioritize opening a Canadian data center. Email james@rewind.com to give an “upvote” or other comment on the Canadian data center. Your feedback helps us to prioritize feature requests.
If you are based in the USA, all data for your backup, including the contact information for your EU customers, will remain in our USA data center.
If you are based in the EU, all data for your backup, including the contact information for your EU customers, will be transferred to a new European data center.
If you are based in any other region, all data for your backup, including the contact information for your EU customers, will remain in our USA data center.
