How to Manually Import Data to a QuickBooks Online File

by | Oct 26, 2020

Once you have prepared the settings in the new QuickBooks Online (QBO) file, it is time to import the data. You do not need to import any data if you are using Rewind QuickBooks Online Copy.

In this guide, learn how to:

  • Manually import data into the new QuickBooks Online file.

Manually Importing Data

If you are manually importing the data, start by clicking the “Gear” icon. Go into “Import Data.” There will be a list of data that you can import. Click “Bills” and upload a CSV file of it.

Upload your “trial balance” into the “Journal Entries” tab. If you are importing your invoices and bills, make sure that you take out your accounts payable and receivable so that they stay accurate and there is no overstating. You may want to enter that data manually depending on what that trial balance looks like.

You can import products and services, suppliers, and customers as well. For the “Chart of Accounts,” the sub accounts will not be brought over. Everything will be in one list. Numbering will help with this. Make sure that you number the sub accounts so that when you go to recreate those sub accounts, you know what is a sub account of what.

If you are using Rewind Copy, you are going to completely skip the import data process. You will not need to do any of this as Rewind will take care of this.
